The Bachchor Heidelberg unites people who share in the joy of singing together. To ensure that everyone can feel at ease with us, we’ve developed the following code of conduct. It signals our intent to treat each other with respect and appreciation — both while present in choir and in our dealings with each other outside of choir. Our goal is to create a trusting community in which every voice counts and every person feels safe and welcome. We invite you to share this spirit with us!

The Bachchor Code of Conduct

As Bachchor Heidelberg e. V., we continue in the long-standing tradition of enriching the cultural life of the city through the music we make together. The joy of communal singing is our top priority.

Our association stands for mutually considerate behavior and for cooperation as among equals.
Recognizing social diversity is part of our identity: we strive to ensure a courteous and supportive place in our community for every member of the choir, regardless of differences in origin, religion, ideology, physical or mental abilities, age, marital status, sexual identity, life choices, etc.

We’re committed to civil interactions and the preservation of personal integrity, and our desire is always to seek out clear, honest and unbiased communication to actively address conflicts and work toward their fair resolution.

Due to their positions, especially the members of the choir’s board and the choir director serve as role models in this regard. They exercise prudence when it comes to proximity and distance, and they respect individual boundaries.

The members of the choir elect two to (max.) four representatives as ‘trusted third parties’. When asked to do so, these persons may mediate in cases of conflict within the choir – to the best of their knowledge and conscience. They pledge to keep strict confidentiality. The trusted representatives are elected for a term of two years.

As members of the Bachchor Heidelberg e. V., we actively work to prevent discrimination in any form. Together, we strive to create a space where there’s no room for abuse of power, bullying, sexual or violent assaults, or any other kind of degrading or transgressive actions.

It’s the responsibility of every choir member to contribute to a positive and stress-free atmosphere through attentive, considerate and appreciative behavior toward one another – while we’re together for choir rehearsals, during concerts, on tours, or at any other event organized by and for the choir.
